My paintings range from abstract to more representational, but their common thread is the natural landscape. I have separated them here into three categories, but  these categories naturally merge. You may choose by clicking on the headings below. The paintings on the website are only a small part of my output, and some may no longer be available; please feel free to enquire about my other work and commissions.

LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS

In this category you will be able to view paintings in both watercolour and oil in which the subject matter is specific and representational;from landscapes and seascapes to the hills and forests of places I am familiar with.

SEMI-ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES

My semi-abstract paintings are in watercolour or oil, and show a personal and expressive idea inspired by a particular (or sometimes purely imaginative) place. This section is fairly broad with paintings in a loose style but of particular locations to some where the subject is not always clearly defined, but bears some strong connection to, or evokes some essential elements of a landscape, seascape, or its' light.
I have included my recent Sea Spirit series here, focussing on the sea in close up.

ABSTRACT PAINTINGS
The paintings in this section are abstract in the sense that they do not depict recognisable or particular scenes or objects. The onlooker is given the freedom to see what he or she wants in these paintings; in most cases I hope simply to create an evocation  or a glimpse of something, not wishing to dictate. Currently my paintings in this category are related to my ideas about how everything we see around us in a landscape is connected by  its' consisting of the very rock and stone that lies at our feet and in the distance, and vice versa.
